I still have no idea as to _why_ I was getting the odd behvior seen here, but I did find a fix -- what I ended up doing was going into max.ctl with an editor and _MOVING_ the line that mentioned menus.ctl to the top of that particular list. After that things worked as expected... Odd, eh? I've no idea why this should make any difference, but it did, and things are now working as expected. Hm, I wonder if that H)url command has the same restrictions as some of the others, as in messages only to or from the person wanting to use it? NT Workstation not in use here. The only differnence that I can see, so far, between our two systems is that my node PC's are all running Windows 95. The rest of the setup is the same. NT Server, all nodes load the same copy of MAX from the same drive on the server. What Dos client protocol are you using? (Netbeui? Tcp/ip?)
