The error comes up as "I don't see that file here" to the user and they must locate to the correct directory before they can tag/queue the file for download. Souper, Yarn, Gigo, Squish + Maximus are my normal environment. I read news with Yarn but also import news-groups to Maximus so that users can read too. Now, I'm not sure how to do that in reverse order; user writes a message and it will be exported to Usenet? Does Gigo even support that? Inspecta is nice. The first thing registered here when I switched to OS/2. It has a similar limitation. The file_names and descriptions are kept in a 64kb image. That allows for approx 300 files with 200 character, or 400 files with 150 character, descriptions. We hit the wall with that a year or so ago. Sigh! I really like Maximus -- the focus on text-based control files is a plus, as are MECCA and MEX, which are -very- well implemented. I'm not fond, however, of some of the alleged features relating to security -- such as barricade promotions. There's *got* to be a bug. I've come up with a simple solution, though -- I'm in the process of totally gutting the menus of all SysOp abilities. If it doesn't exist, it can't be found -- and -really-, I don't need an OS shell available. I can do almost everything externally -- edit menus, manipulate message bases with GoldED and file bases with -- whatever that's called... Almost everything. Does -anyone- know where I can find a Maximus 3.0 user editor, preferably freeware? Asher Densmore-Lynn ... Nepotism is relational. --- Squish v1.11 * Origin: Phaenix Rampant, 'Uhm...
