GB>> Maximus is not an "ISLAND". It's have to interact with others GB>> softwares, it's can't live by itself, in his small bubble. Sorry. Look, I'm going to make this official, and public. You come in here and do the "Chicken Little" act ("the sky is falling, the sky is falling!") about Maximus and the year 2000, making dire predictions. That's all fine, but when Scott answers you and, in good faith, asks you to simply provide him with repeatable and verifiable circumstances where this occurs so he can look into it, you claim you're too busy and that his "beta team" should check into it. Now, you weren't too busy to "find" this "2000 bug", but then you can't be "bothered" to produce anything for Scott to look at?? Uh-huh. Ok. The "year 2000" topic is off topic, UNLESS you want to provide some sort of repeatable, verifiable evidence of a problem, and that problem MUST be within Maximus -itself-, NOT some 3rd-party program/util. If you have some problem within a 3rd party program, pester -that- author, but not in this echo. This thread can end right now. --gary / MUFFIN/TUB/MECCA/MAXDEV moderator --- Maximus v3.01 * Origin: bloom county bbs * dearborn, mi * (313)582-0888 (1:2410/400) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 174 MUFFIN (MAXIMUS) Ref: EBH00010Date: 07/12/97 From: CHRIS HOLTEN Time: 08:53am \/To: RAYMOND COOL (Read 1 times) Subj: Max/WIN95 TC> Yes get out of Win95...That's what's causing the slowdown!!! :) PL> Bollocks! If you want better multitasking and a much better Win 32 OS than Windows 95, go to Windows NT. It multitasks as well or better than OS/2 and has much much faster hard drive access (tosses big mail bundles like greased lightning). The downside is that you have to run either 100% 32 bit BBS comm apps or 100% 16 bit bbs comm apps. NT will not pass a hot comport from a 32 bit to a 16bit app or vice versa. I run Bink32/MaxNT and it really multitasks and works quite well, but I cannot run 16 bit DOORS, which I don't want to anyway. With Winfossil for Windows NT, you can get very good performance from 16 bit DOS bbs/mailer stuff. I've run 8 copies of 16 bit Bink/Max in NT 4.0 wks (32meg) with Winfossil NT and it worked just fine. I think I could of run a few more nodes if I'd of wanted to. Windows 95 multitasks well enough to run a one line BBS on a 486 and a 2 line BBS on a 100mhz pentium or better, but I sure wouldn't recommend it for more than 2 lines on -any- computer system. --- Maximus/NT 3.01b1 * Origin: Cowboy Country USA! You can run Maximus NT 3.01b in Windows 95 as a stand-a-lone BBS. In windows 95 you can't use it with a front end mailer or DOORS or any other program that depends on being passed a hot comport (so that caller isn't dumped). --- Maximus/NT 3.01b1 * Origin: Cowboy Country USA!
