I think I remember reading in the max docs somewhere... that I can have maximus send a screen message to a certain user when he logs on. I can't for the life of me locate it now. I believe it was a mec/bbs file sent when a certain user logs on. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you Js> for any help! -Jim Shastid I have found binkley to be the most flexible and reliable under DOS, Windows 3.11, Windows 95 and Windows NT. It's quite easy and synergistic to setup with Maximus. It's also freeware. All you have to do it edit the sample binkley.cfg to fit your system and create the proper e-mail directorys and a spawnbbs.bat file. You will have to learn a bit about DOS batch files and errorlevels (but very little). The little extra that you have to learn about bink is something that sooner or later you are going to have to learn about to sucessfully run a BBS anyway and binkley, once correctly setup, is the best most hassle free reliable front end mailer in fidodom there is, which is why it is easily the most popular front end in the fidonet also. Some folks have trouble editing text .cfg files, but I find them easier than messing around with trained chimpanzee INSTALL or SETUP methods that other frontend mailers use. I have also found binkley to be quite a bit more reliable and less hassle once correctly up and running than other front ends, especially with Windows (3.11,95,NT). --- Maximus/NT 3.01b1 * Origin: Cowboy Country USA! Is there a way in Max 3.01 (Squish bases) to =require= an alias? I see in the docs how to -allow- an alias, but no way to -require- one. I'm carrying some of the TOTT-* (Turn On To Teens) echos, and need a way to prevent real names, if it can even be done. Maybe a utility program that scans the mail and replaces real names with the equivalent alias? Don't know... if it can even be done. Any help appreciated. Yes, but Maximus is still missing some features and has bugs that need to be fixed. Character set support wouldn't be bad and it would make Max more international-wise. Also, internal BW support would be nice, since Hatchew's door is too buggy and Cutting Edge seems to have stopped maintaining the products. -=[ Count Zero / TBH - Jussi Hamalainen - email count@theblah.org ]=- ...
