Hi Wendy, RH> Seems the machine has a temperament of its' own, right? WB> You can say that again...but I think it is MY temperament that WB> is the real problem, Ruth. I know what you mean, sometimes I'll look at something and get an idea; other times I'll just cut "off the top of my head." I've had some art training which has been a help in some ways, a hinderance in others. Also have a husband who thinks I should make a pattern first. WB> Tom surprised me this year, with a new CD-Rom drive and sound card. WB> Thought he bought them for himself! They aren't working though. Steve is always getting upgrades on this and that for the computers. Right now, we have "my" system set up and "his." I use it mostly for Fido and writing jobs but know it cam be used for more. But, I know what travel is like in bad weather, so I'm glad it was nice. RH> I think mine says "Again? Can't you leave me alone?" THey have given her hope that someday, she will be able to return to her profession. meantime she is thinking up all sorts of fun things to so while she is recovering. She is an inspiration. I was using the sewing machine today, putting together some water carrier bags out of leather. They will hide 'make middle ages' those sports drink bottles. I use all recycled leather for my work. These are a sleeve cut off with a circle sewn at the cuff and a strap attached. If i sew them by hand i have to prepunch all the holes first-a really big tiresome job. NO, i don't think i will be photographing any of my work. When i have tried that in the past, it turned out poorly and even the good ones we never look at again. I was trying to think of a way to get through valentines day without feeling alone and lonely. I had thought about inviting the various children and teenagers I know to come over and make valentines, splitting up the kids to different days so there wouldn't be an overwhelming number of kids in my small apt. I called a local hospital and talked to someone in the chaplain's office. I asked if I sent or dropped all the valentines the kids, and I, made to them could they pass them out to those who needed them. After talking to her supervisor I was told that would be great. So I've begun collecting valentines. I had 2 kids over on Saturday. They made valentines of all diffent types including using paint and shaped sponges. I used finger paint since I didn't want to run the risk of something getting on something else and not being washable. Even the youngest, who was 5, kept the sponges clean and washed them frequently in order to moisten them. Obviously the older children to better with the sponges, but his cards were nice. I also have things such as construction paper, some silver chrome paper, ribbon, decorative scissors, etc. Depending on what they are doing I give paper folded in forths to the younger kids and card stock to the older ones. Just thought this might be something that others could use as a craft project. I did note the children's ages by their names before I put the cards in envelopes that I made from wall paper samples. It is an inexpensive thing to do that will most likely brighten someone's day. Wendy ...
