I've still got to finish a RH> project for Steve (vest & tie) and a couple of stuffed toys for our 7 RH> month old nephew. How did he like his vest and tie? I made our puppy a stuffed toy ball for Christmas, lasted about 20 minutes and then there was stuffing all over the living room...trashed it! Good thing I didn't waste a lot of time on it! RH> Good. I've got to get new bifocals after the first of the year; I'm RH> always pulling mine off for close up work. I still am taking too long to focus. Don't know what the big problem is but I guess I'll have to go back and see what's happening. GRRRRRR! RH> ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I hope you two had a lovely time together, but I'm sure you missed the girls. How did Deborah's OKC trip go? I'm sure Rachel missed you all, and I also hope she didn't work so hard at her job that her feet hurt all Christmas! We had a good one here. Tom's sis drove down from Missouri for a few days and she was hurting. Tendinitis in her arm. She took some meds for that and then we enjoyed each other. I like her; she and Tom argue and fuss like all brothers and sisters but they enjoy one another's company too. She really enjoyed the pot holders I made her for Christmas. She loves homegrown tomatoes; this fabric I used for the pot holders was cream color with little tomatoes on it, and she said "These make me hungry for some good tomatoes like I had when I visited you all last summer!" I laughed and said that's why i made them out of that fabric! And she said "NOT FAIR!" Aren't I a meanie, though? Happy 1998! LadyBear Hugs, Wendy ... BW> The wreath sounds simply great. tell me, did you manage to keep it or BW> give it away..I do things like that but having 6 girls one of them BW> always manages to talk me out of it somehow..very seldon do I have BW> something I made in my home. unless it's just simpley to gaudy for them It got to stay here. I have no kids so no one wanted to take it away from me except my friend, and she already has two so... I kept it and it looked lovely on my front door! Tom loved it too which made me feel extra glad I made it. BW> sooner but with all the goings on at holiday time. I'm a happy person BW> that it's all but behind me now..tonight is the last of 1997 and now I'm so slow this year! usually I at least get the messages more often than this but I am getting lazy in my old age. I'll be 49 years old this month. Gee, time flies when you're having fun! And I enjoy my crafting so I'm having loads of fun! BW> I'll be all discombobulated with my checks for a few weeks..I try to BW> write 1998 on a few so I don't mess up too bad, but when I've reached BW> the end of the pre written ones.I slip.. Seems I no more than get BW> used to the new year and we're getting ready for another one.. Instead of writing the year on mine, I stick a very gaudy postit note in my checkbook and move it to the next check every time, on it I write the year in big numbers with a black Sharpie marker. I rubber stamp around that with hearts and little flowers and lots of different colors so I can't miss it when I open the checkbook to write a check, and it reminds me. Everyone who sees it grins, but I don't care! It sure helps! BW> I've put the crafts away for awhile, but it won't be long and BW> I'll be tired of reading all the good books I rec. from santa and will BW> be dragging something out I'm sure.. If you are like me, you will have them out by now! I have mine back out on the table. All my rubber stamping stuff was put away in their containers and now they are all scattered about like they were before. BW> I hope you had a very merry Christmas and will have a great new BW> year..Happy 1998...keep in touch. Oh we have had a great holiday season here. Not too much of the goodies this time, though. I didn't bake the cookies I'd planned on so I have loads of stuff to make goodies with, but Tom's sis was on TOPS and they decided in their group that if they gained a pound they had to pay a dollar and not just a quarter like usual, so she didn't want to be tempted. And I was very tired, so....no cookies! Tom pouted but he's lost weight and didn't want to gain it back either. BW> we received 3 feet of snow overnight and it's really a winter BW> wonderland out there..not so good for driving, but for me..nice,pretty Yes, I saw that your part of the country got snowbound! It looks pretty out the window but when you have to go out in it it's not so lovely, is it? Glad you didn't have to! BW> crafters are special people and I'm happy to be special.. Yes, you are special! And aren't we having fun? I've gotten out some quilling today. I love making little gift tags out of quilled flowers. But I sure am klutzy with those paper strips! I have gone through about 5 spools of it in the last 6 TH> months. I try to buy sulky when it is 40% off, or 50% off, so I don't TH> feel like I am paying too high a price for it. Have you heard of Madira? A fabric store owner told me that this was good thread too. One thing with it, you TH> definately need to drop your tension by a couple of notches. My TH> normal setting is 6 and I drop it to 4 (occasionally as low as 1 or TH> two if using a metallic). I will have to remember that. I will be using metallic thread for my tree skirt quilting. Using Sewer's Aid helps too. I have been TH> told by my Bernina dealer that it is ok to use it on the spool, in fact TH> in one class she applied it to my spool herself. I haven't heard of this before. But then I am not using different threads like the rayons. Does this help to keep the thread from fraying and breaking? SC> P.S. Got your star block - very pretty. Danielle TH> really likes it. I am glad that it arrived safely. Do you think she TH> will get interested in piecing? Yes she probably will. Though she is only 6, we have already made a skirt together. I helped her to hold the fabric as she sewed the seams. She was proud of her skirt. :) So quilting will come naturally. The blouses are 3 piece [if sleeveless] the skirts a one piece. The rain cloak is three pieces plus the hood. I use round elastic, tiny snaps and when practical velcro. I may pick up some glue on velcro as very small pieces are hard to sew on. I fear, however, that the glue on kind will tear off again from little fingers. The wedding dress for Barbie, is coming well. I have hopes that it will be lovely and it will certainly be both sturdy and washable, as i have made a built in slip and used fraycheck on all the seams. I'm sorry Rachel had the accident, but glad she was unhurt. A dear friend of mine [here in Biloxi] also had a bad fall two days ago, and had to have emergency surgery to replace her shoulder.
