--------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 172 CRAFTING Ref: EBE00002 Date: 07/08/97 From: JULIA SIDEBOTTOM Time: 05:37pm \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: This and that... Well I am going about catching up on things this afternoon and wondering if I have enough energy to dig into my fabric stash and start the process of breaking it down so that my cabinets can be put in with all my goodies out of the way... I have a feeling, however, that that project will begin tomorrow or the next day... that is if I don't get a call sooner that my cabinets are in! . I did however spend the afternoon cutting fabrics and getting patterns set up and selecting fabrics for the QBE... I am going to get myself in gear and make my QBE block for Dorothy this afternoon.... Tomorrow the mail carrier will have all kinds of goodies leaving here for both friends on Fido and on the Internet. Seeing it has rained here the best part of the afternoon, it provided me the chance to get going on these projects... I sooooo want to dig into my RS's and know that that will just have to wait... ... and when I do begin getting them in order LOOK OUT WORLD!!! maybe then I will get a "fairly" accurate count on just what all I have here... but I am not holding my breath on that one yet! My eyes are also turning to the very "naked" walls in my new home... The guys here are not into decorating at all!!!! So there is a lot of room to make decorative additions for every room in this house... of course I am going to start with my bedroom, bathroom and the studio... then I will go onto the kitchen, living room and hall ways... I will have enough "crafty" things I can do for a good year here!!! I also have waiting for my attention some sweat shirts to be fabric painted! I just cant get to the paints yet as they are still in boxes... . It continues to be sooooo strange to have all my crafting materials and supplies in boxes and know they are soooo close yet so far away from my being able to use them..... Believe me when these cabinets are in you all will be the first ones to know as I will be shouting it from the top of my eyboard!!! I also had a wonderful chance to chat with Dorothy Ferris in IRC this morning... . I do hope that others of you here who have internet access will try to join us there from time to time... the Server is UNDERNET and the channel is "#clippers".... follow the instructions on your service provider as to how to get into IRC... I printed it out, but have to start sewing it this week. I am urrently trying to work on a problem with my serger. I can't get my left needle hread to combine with the rest of the threads. The easy solution is to take it out and not use it, but that isn't what I want to do. You should see your block shortly. Just so you know, Julia won the CMQBE that's part of the Sew & Quilt echo; the QBE is part of this echo, the Crafting echo, I think. Each exchange has its own rules. That is terrific!!!!!!! I am really glad, and happy, and ready to post my pattern. I have been making blocks for a log cabin done in Streak of Lightening (I think) layout. What I would like is a 6 1/2" unfinished size log cabin. I would like one side to be a medium to a dark green, and the other side of the log cabin to be either red, yellow, or purple. The center square of the log cabin should be green. I would like this to be scrappy, so the more fabrics you use in it, the better I'll like it. This will be my first attempt at a scrappy log cabin, and having help from you all will really help me with this. The strips should be 1 1/2" strips please. I don't care if they are solids r prints. Thanking you all in advance for my log cabins to come! My address is Teresa Herman, 10926 Alvin Drive, Northglenn, CO 80233. If ou can include your phone number with your block, I would like to call when I pick the winner and give the good news in person like Pat did for me. I'll post the winner too!!! I didn't see the message for me saying I had won, so thought this might be a quicker way for next month. No wonder you guys all know how to quilt! Little tips here and there really make the difference. This is a great idea. I have picked out certain pictures I want to use for the quilts. I have also looked for the different fabrics I want to use; their old shirts. Now I have to get to the library, and start cutting out squares! That's the scary part... thanks, Wanda ... DF> Thank goodness I don't dwell on these mishaps. If I did I'd never I loved these! :) Made me think of the times we've made reservations at hotels, and how they turned out... One time: I ask on the phone if they have a pool--they say yes, come on down--we get there, and there's no water in it; it's cracked, leaves are in it, people are laying around the edge, sunning themselves Another time: I ask if they have a pool--yes--does it have water in it-- yes--we get there, there's worms floating in it, and the water's green Another time--I ask if they have a pool--yes--does it have water in it--yes--is anybody IN the pool--yes--we get there, it's an above- ground pool, tiny, with a lady and her 6 kids in it, no room for any one else Another time--you know how they wrap glasses in the room in clear wrap? this one place wrapped *styrofoam* cups in wrap!! I didn't want to eat there... It truly scares me to make reservations anymore, to see what we end up with!! :) Wanda ... I'll never do those again unless I bring my own towels.. theirs are useless. Another nice thing is that many of the mid range and up hotels offer extra perks like a free breakfast. Sure, you're paying a bit more for the room than at Motel 6.. but with a free breakfast and a pool I know I don't have to worry about my kids swimming in, I feel I'm getting more than my money's worth. :-) :)---Holly--<--<-@ hollys@geocities.com http://www.geocities.com/Wellesley/4201 --- DLG Pro v1.16/DLGMail v2.63 * Origin: Techno-Mages Guild * ==> (619) 549-0278 <== * (1:202/720) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 172 CRAFTING Ref: EBF00001 Date: 07/09/97 From: CINDI MARSHALL Time: 05:46pm \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Crocheting Is there anyone in tthis echo who knows how to do a ripple stitch in crocheting? right now, I am a relative beginner in that art, and the only stitch I know is the double-stitch.
