Make several colors. We are doing the "fiery furnace" so we used red, yellow, orange and black. Layer the salt in the jars, slanting the jar a little to make it more interesting than "flat" layers. Use the black color last, at least 1/2 inch. All the layers of salt should only reach about 3/4 of the way up the jar. Using a toothpick, gently poke holes around the edges of the salt - the black will slip down the sides in stripes, it's like sand painting. Next, push a birthday candle into the middle of the baby food jar and fill the jar with melted paraffin. The paraffin holds the salt so that the design stays, and you have created an attractive candle. I'm using this craft for all my classes from preschool to 5th grade, but helping some classes more than others. I know what you mean. :) I have been poking around in my yarn and patterns, but haven't started anything yet. I need to clean my knitting machine before I can use it... I don't have a cover for it, so dust and stuff collects on it and down in the needlebed. It's a job I enjoy doing, though. My brain is spinning with ideas but I can't settle on any of them. I have an unfinished baby blanket that needs one last section before I crochet the edges. I've been thinking of knitting squares and sewing them into something, like a blanket, or a jacket or something. I have a lot of small amounts of different kinds of yarn, I'd like to make use of them somehow. It is so hard to pick a direction to turn to get started again. I'd like to make some money, if I could, but I don't have any idea what people would buy or how to market my creations. Thankyou!!!! It was wonderful. As for the ribbon embroidery, should you ever find a kit you liked I'd be more than happy to either give you some good instruction or just do it for you. I never would have tried all the new needlearts I've done this past 16 months had it not been for all the talented people I met on the echo who inspired me to try something new. Silk ribbon is self taught with some good books, but I did learn to do hardanger with a quick hour free class at Lewiscraft, and learned a whole bunch of new stitches while I'm working on Emie Bishop's Emblishments with a email stitch along group. My tatting skills developed from a 9 hour class over 3 days. Same for Battenburg lace, I never would have even looked for these classes or heard about all these facinating needlearts had I not meet others on the echo who did them. Thanks again for the floss!!!
