Pat, these twits don't read the newsgroups they are spamming.. and someone somewhere has this Fido echo set up as an Internet newsgroup. I'm going VM> to try to make Christmas presents with it. > Please let me know how this turns out. I'm very interested in it. > BTW, if anyone else has any ideas for doing this without buying kits, > let me know. I'd really appreciate it. Don't need a kit. Saw it on a TV show several years ago. Gallon of water with a tablespoon or so of borax mixed up in it and then float a few drops of generic oil (NOT acrylic!) paints on top of the water. A large flat pan with low sides is great for this. You gently lay the paper on top of the water, then pull it back like peeling a banana. Lay item flat and let dry - oil paints take awile to dry. If you want to dip something like a candlestick, you do the same thing, only put the water into something deeper than the candlestick, like a bucket. Same procedure except you dip the item all the way into the bucket, then turn it a bit as you immediately pull it slowly back out..this is what gives the marbleizing effect. And no two are alike. Hope it helps. Have fun. :) :)---Holly--<--<-@ <== Team Amiga/DLG ==> InterNet: hollys@geocities.com http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Studios/1169 --- DLG Pro v1.16/DLGMail v2.63 * Origin: Techno-Mages Guild * phone? what phone? :( * San Diego (1:202/720) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 172 CRAFTING Ref: E5200013 Date: 04/30/97 From: PENNY POWERS Time: 03:02pm \/To: WENDY APGAR (Read 0 times) Subj: Your Gift --=> Wendy spotted Penny, then sent a coded signal about Your Gift <=-- WA> Just a note to thank you for your gifts that came WA> in the mail last week. I am somewhat familiar with that area, especially the Rt. 104 section. I used to work at Kodak - Elmgrove & Lincoln Plant (many many moons ago - much too many ago). Dead end street with a mall in the middle - can't place that one. We lived in Holyoke Apts, Greenleaf Meadows (Greece), then on to Gates and then Ogden. I am also familiar with Latta Road. The quilting class I took was in Gates - I cannot remember the name of the business but it was located in a church and I beleive they went out of business several years ago. It was a sampler quilt and I guess the reason I never finished it was I was so disappointed in the colors I chose and got tired of them real fast. I am hoping when I take the class in the fall that I will find that I have matured as far as choosing colors - I have really improved in choosing wallpaper patterns through the years so maybe I have improved in choosing colors for a quilt as well (G>!! I have a friend that lives in Ogden-Spencerport that is REALLY into quilting and she does beautiful things and goes to many shows. She always inspires me when I visit her and see her projects. She has a room just for crafts and everything is sooooo organized - I always want to come home and do the same, but..............
