All i can say about the Celtics is that they got a young taem that can blossom once the players find their spots no the team. The roles they play like they do on Chicago. I think this young team can be the future celtics that can win tons more titles. But until they get everyone in place they not going to do much right now. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Willy's Wild & Wacky World (1:2604/412.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 114 SPORTS Ref: EAP00002 Date: 06/19/97 From: CHRIS OGNIBEN Time: 12:11pm \/To: OSCAR VELASCO (Read 1 times) Subj: BASEBALL Just saw a game last night with the Blue Jays and Braves. The Blue Jays won the game. But i think their pitching staff is really good and they got good hitters. So this team is pretty complete and i also founded out that they won the world series twice in 92 and 93. I never knew that till i saw the banners in the Blue Jays stadium. They had a fog delay in the game last night but, it was still a great game and i think it was a inter league game too. I think even though the Braves are not doing so well at the moment they still a good team. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Willy's Wild & Wacky World (1:2604/412.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 114 SPORTS Ref: EAP00003 Date: 06/19/97 From: ARRON BLACK Time: 05:54pm \/To: VICTOR NG (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: Donovan Bailey vs. Michael Johnson VN> Anybody would like to comment on the 150m sprint that was VN> held at Skydome in Toronto a few weeks ago VN> Bailey won that race hands down, but too bad Michael Johnson didn't VN> finish the dash. Greg was hit by a Randy Johnson fastball for uttering: GK> Really? I like Keith Olberman. He cracks me up! I stay up later GK> than I should just to listen to him. Luckily for us, the worst amateur comedian of the bunch went to fester at Comedy Central. Olberham is taking his act to NBC for cable and sports (since it's doubtful that he'll do anything that I'll be watching, I will be thrilled as hell to see him gone). I don't like Olbermann mostly because he puts up a front about how great a historian his is and he's nothing more than a puke in front of a mike. A lot of people watched Baseball and enjoyed it for the first couple of nights but after Olbermann starting his whining (over really trivial stuff), some people didn't enjoy it as much as they would have (I ignored his rantings and thought the whole series was enjoyable). He's the prime example of what's wrong with sports reporting today. --- TrekEd 1.00 * Origin: Jerry Jones is the Anti-Christ (1:170/1701) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 114 SPORTS Ref: EAQ00001 Date: 06/20/97 From: ED GRINNELL Time: 02:53pm \/To: GREG KURTH (Read 1 times) Subj: World Football League Greg was hit by a Randy Johnson fastball for uttering: GK> Before the World Football League season started, I heard Fox had GK> committed to covering all the games. Dave accepted an invitation to the Tidy Bowl by saying: DN> I don't know what the hell ML thought he was going to get away with DN> last year, putting Szasbo in at center. What in the heck are you talking about? Carr WASN'T trying to get away with anything, Dave. He was playing the hand he was dealt with after injuries. The plan was to use Ellison but that went haywire quite quickly and then he was forced to use just about anything that walked at center because he didn't have cap flexibility (his own fault) to pick up someone decent (He was lucky that he was able to get Brickowski and then he got hurt). ->> You certainly have overlooked a lot of facts in order to make ->> YOUR assessment. DN> The one fact that jumps out at me is 16 wins. I don't see the return of DN> Dino Radja adding 24 wins to this team, *if* he returns in good playing DN> form. Who in the hell says that HIS return would mean 24 wins (There's only one player in the NBA right now that's worth 20 wins and his name is Michael Jordan)? Again, YOU are overlooking a lot of facts, especially when you OBVIOUSLY want to make it look like *I* said that he was going to make that much of a difference (and I didn't). I've pointed out the fact that SEVERAL people were lost last year due to injuries and they were all part of the 33 wins the year before (A fact that you continue to ignore). Radja wasn't worth 18 wins (the drop from 33 to 15) - at best he was worth 6 or 7. The 18 wins dropped came from losing Radja, Ellison, Barros, Brickowski and Minor. A return of ALL THOSE PLAYERS means a hell of a lot to Boston and THAT is the basis of why I think Boston can't help but return to 30+ wins even BEFORE the draft (Radja's gone, however, his replacements from Philly should make up for what he gave the Celtics and they'll be less of a question mark as far as health). --- TrekEd 1.00 * Origin: Does your Big Unit have a Big Hurt?
