(well almost as kw> easily) Yes, but remember the context: that was "if the boot sector virus was bigger than the boot sector, then FDISK/MBR wouldn't overwrite that portion of the virus that was beyond the boot sector". My comment was essentially that after the FDISK/MBR, there would be some virus code left, but since the portion in the boot sector was gone, that additional code would never get executed. ENOUGH! I've read enough crap about viruses trashing monitors in the past few weeks to last me for life! Over the years plenty of people have claimed to have "a friend whose wife's brother's mate's girlfriend got a virus which set fire to her monitor", but no-one has ever provided a sample of such a virus, and no antivirus researcher in the world has ever seen one! MONITOR-DESTROYING VIRUSES DO NOT EXIST ... and crapping on ad nauseum about how these figments of the imagination "would" or "could" work if they _did_ exist won't change that! If you can write such a virus, DO IT ... and make yourself famous! If you can't ... SHUT UP ABOUT IT! rod fewster Moderator - VIRUS_INFO --- * Origin: --==[ Secure Antivirus Systems International ]==-- (3:640/886) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 171 VIRUS INFO Ref: E1K00014 Date: 01/15/97 From: DANNY KEOGH Time: 07:15am \/To: ALL (Read 2 times) Subj: tbav Anybody know where I can get TBAV on the internet?
