It appears you take what I said a bit too literally. Controlled regulated fishing, does help protect fish and fish environments by controlling fish populations and enforcing of related laws to protect both. In most states, large portions of license and permit fees, and purchases of fishing tackle go directly to fish, game and wildlife conservation and management. Not that the other sports are boring (rugby is far from it) but they have a limited scope, and are therefore not watched by the large majority of fans! Soccer may be changing, but with low scoring contests and many different leagues and World organizations, it is somewhat hard to follow a team, let alone individuals. Shoot I like watching the volleyball and table-tennis matches at times but it's hard to get excited about the season coming up like Baseball for instance. It's the tradition of the sports that make them great, and somethign that changes slowly. With David Robinson coming back and Duncan -EG> being a clone (but I think with a lot more ability to take -EG> a team to the championship level), the Spurs can either -EG> keep Duncan or use him to get several good players. This is -EG> going to be interesting. The papers here are talking (mostly wishful thinking, I'm sure) that Pitino has made an effort to wrest the number 1 out of the Spurs somehow. Would they take the #3 and #6 pick for the #1? I doubt it. Would they take the #6 pick and a player of some talent (Williams, Walker - and that's all there is) in exchange for David Robinson? The Celtics are STILL in big trouble, and would be in big trouble even if they wound up with Duncan. Had they landed #1 and another one in the top six, they would be in a very strong position. But they are still in deep doo-doo because of the salary cap and large contracts to players such as Pervis Ellison, Dino Radja, Dee Brown, and Dana Barros -- all untradeable, all carrying big paychecks (handed out by the management in panic mode in the last four years), and very little talent. They will have an extremely hard time re-signing Rick Fox and David Wesley - both of whom they'd love to keep -- but because of the cap, other teams will have more money to offer them. Dee Brown was willing to be traded but has since rescinded his demands with the arrival of Rick Pitino. This may work out for the Celtics much as it did back in 1981 when Tiny Archibald thought his career was over, then Bill Fitch came in and asked him to stick around. Oh, by the way, they will have to re-sign Antoine Walker and Eric Williams sometime as well. --- * Origin: (1:324/127) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 114 SPORTS Ref: E5U00001 Date: 05/22/97 From: GREG CALIRI Time: 07:36am \/To: OSCAR VELASCO (Read 1 times) Subj: HOCKEY -OV> -> BTW a lot of people aren't aware that for many years, -OV> -> the Canadiens were allowed to reserve the first two -OV> -> draft picks for themselves, as long as the picks were -OV> -> French-Canadian. -OV> That explains why they are powerful back then. :) I hate -OV> the mighty -OV> Canadiens. :) Well, I like 'em and always have. This week to be exact. The top two teams are playing against other which will be a good series I believed. I predicted the two winning teams and the number of games right, and I am so happy. Too bad, I didn't bet in Vegas. :( Anyways, here's the matchup for the Stanley Cup Finals: Offensive output: Detroit have Fedorov, Yzerman, Kozlov, Shanahan and the rest. It seems like all these so-called scorer for the Wings are clicking on all cylinders. Phillies -- Lindros, what a series he had against the Rangers. LeClair, Brind'Amour and others. I'll say I will give the Wings a slioght edge in this part. DEFENSIVE FORWARDS This will be interesting. Otto will play against the Yzaerman line, Hawerchuk's line will play against Fedorov's line. Intersting part is who will play against those big bruising number one line for the Flyers. Flyers slight advantage.. DEFENSE Red Wings was awesome against the Avs. They shut them down. They only allowed 10 games in 6 games. Take away the 5th game and they only allowed 4 goals. Sots on goal was awesome also. I will say Red Wings got an advantage here. GOALIE: Vernon vs Hextall or Snow. Vernon is pplaying like the Vernon in 1989 when he wom a Stanley Cup for the Flames. Hextall is so inconsistent, while Snow is the same thing. If Vernon falters, there's Osgood to take over. Red Wings +2 RED WINGS will win it in 6 or 7 games.
