Simple. Assuming, of course, you can (and want to) shell out $2000+ for the priviledge! And of course, most laptops (which you'd need if you want portability) aren't really gaming material. --- Maximus 3.01 * Origin: BitByters BBS, Rockland ON, Can. They bring out a system just DM> because they have a idea for a game that would be cool on it. Then DM> they ditch the system. Sega CD, 32X. I mean come on. How many games DM> are on the 32X anyway? 4? Oh yeah, then there is the genesis 2. Actually, Sony seems more eager to line their pockets than Sega is. Have you noticed that there's a glut of bad titles on the PSX in addition to the good ones? Sega's main problem is that they're not very good with add-ons. The only one that people don't really groan about when they remember it is the NetLink, and it's still relatively obscure. Sega's main systems tend to be quite good, at least initially. And everything I've seen and heard on the Katana suggests that it should be another classic. DM> The Jag sucked. Plus it was made by Atari. It was brought out in the DM> 16 bit era too. None of the games looked too good either. And the DM> price was too high. (when first came out) The Jag didn't "suck" (as you so eloquently put it) - it was just quickly overwhelmed, underused, and undermarketed. Developers didn't have the time to make the most of it, such as they have had with the PSX. There was no one "killer title" that kept it moving; ads were few and far between. --- Maximus 3.01 * Origin: BitByters BBS, Rockland ON, Can. Gamers today can probably tell ST> you what a NES and a Game Boy are, but most have no idea about the SMS ST> and Game Gear. The Saturn only lost steam in the last year or so. Then, when people realized they could make games more easily on the PSX, they switched. Sega's marketing and support had little to do with it; they put practically every port they could on the system! And as for gamers' memories, I think most of them DO remember the Master System and Game Gear. I do! ST> With Sega's record it looks like the Genesis was more of a fluke ST> than a show of Sega's ability to successfully market a game machine. I think it was more of a combination of good games (with the prerequisite "killer title," Sonic) and good performance than any flukes. The same should happen with the Katana; it'll be the first (and only, for awhile) console which will let you play Model 3 arcade games at home, and it can handle almost anything else you can throw at it right now. Messiah is only going to be on the PC and the Katana; not the PSX, not the N64. --- Maximus 3.01 * Origin: BitByters BBS, Rockland ON, Can.
