I don't care what they say about -> how good he is. He let go way to many players that had nothing to do -> with them losing. They can;t win with him! Hi, I am a Red Wing fan also. I guess you are half right there, Bowman is one of the problem with the Wings. For a team loaded with talented goal scorer, he shouldn't force them to play defensive hockey all the time. Stevie Y is my favorite, and the reason why his scoring is down for the last few years was because of the defensive style of hockey. C'mon, this is New Jersey or Florida, who likes to play defensively all the time to compensate their lack of goal scorers on team. The other reason why, the Wings are struggling was because goons from other team can just run over or hit the Wing's good players such as Fedorov, Yzerman and name a few, and nobody retaliate for them. The Wings needed a tough guy to look after this players. Joey Kocur is not the answer. Anyways, I hope the Wings will turn around this season. Rumour du jour, Mike Vernon and another players will get traded to an Eastern team, Pittsburgh or Philly in a few weeks. TTYL. Here is what I think. Colarado will be tough. When -> they get their playes back from injuries they will be real tough. -> Philly has had a great team but Lindros has to stay healthy this -> year. He always get hurt around playoffs. Hextall has been great -> all year. He has been over looked for the all star game. Pittsburg -> has a lot of great players. Where did Luline come from? I have -> never heard of him before this year. If Floridia is allowed to play -> their kind of game they will be tough too. The Rangers still aren't -> playing to their potential. They have great players and goalies. I -> don't know what is wrong with them. Did you watch the All Stars -> game. I only got to see a little. Sorry for responding late Dan. I'll say there are so many contenders this season for the Stanley Cup. Here's my rundown : COLORADO Avalanches - the defending champion is still playing well even though they don't have Sakic, Forsberg, Kamensky in the lineup. Kamensky is back but their #1 goaltender is down (Patrick Roy). If this guys can play well without all this guys, imagine what is like to have all these guys playing with all 4-cylinder. PHILADELPHIA Flyers - This could be a year for the Phillies to play in the Stanley Cup final, providing Lindros stay healthy. With Lindros on the lineup, John LeClair is playing well, and also other players are just flying. The Flyers also have the second scoring line already with Brind Amour leading the line. On the defensive forward, it helps to see Joel Otto centring the line, he can also score. Believe me I seen Otto play, he used to play for my Flames. Hextall is playing well on goal, and his backup is not too shabby(Garth Snow). On defense, Paul Coffey really helps the offensive part of the defence crew, just don't let him play one-on-one defensively against a good player, otherwise he is a disaster. PITTSBURGH Penguins - I also thought the problem with Pittsburgh is their goaltending. Patrick Lalime seems to compensate that, but for how long? We all know how the offensive unit can do (Lemeiux, Jagr, Nedved, Francis, and on and on). Another weaknesses for the Pens are their defense. If Barrasso stays injured, Pens chances of going to Stanley Cup is far better I guess. :) NEW YORK Rangers - this team is probably the strangest teasm of all. Maybe they are just cruising on a regular season and then crank it up in the playoffs. Gretzky, Messier, Robitailles, Graves, Leetch, and Richter are all good players. Watch out for this guys!!!! DALLAS Stars - I don't think they're gonna go to the Stanley Cup Final with Colorado reigning the Western Conference. With the addition of Nieuwendyk on the team last season, Dallas improved their center. Now, other team cannot just key on Modano's line anymore otherwise Nieuwendyk's line will burn them. Hitchcock is doing a good job coaching Dallas this year far better than the boring hockey Gainey instilled on them the last few years. DETROIT Red Wings - Don't count this guys out yet. Fedorov is struggling because he is getting so frustrated with goons from another team keeps hitting him and noone to retaliate but himself. Yzerman is still as good as a player from before. Osgood, is struggling right now because of under pressure to play well after his stunning first year in the league. I think the Red Wings are just a frustrated bunch and as soon as the management rectify the problems, watch for them to take a run on the Stanley Cup. FLORIDA Panthers - they cannot repeat what they did last year. Other teams already knows how to stop like this. See New Jersey Devils last season. EDMONTON Oilers - too young, not this year. BUFFALO Sabres - playing well considering they don't have Lafontaine for most of the season. THe Dominator is good reason why, they are playing well. Hasek is awesome everytime he plays. Chances of going to going to stanley cup final 1000-1 VANCOUVER Canucks - too many problem child. Defense is a suspect all season, their best player Bure is frustrated for not having someone to feed him the puck. Mogilny and Tikkanen just don't care, they have this "I attitude" not "WE". No chance. NEW JERSEY Devils - what can I say about the Devils, BORING!!! HARTFORD Whalers - playing well but no chance at all. They'll be gone after the frist round. ST. LOUIS Blues - They are playing way better hockey since that pinhead Mike Keenan left. It tells you something that if you don't they care of your superstar, you'll be gone. I am happy for Hull and MacInnis and others that Keenan is gone. I guess they just needed a few more defensive help so they can take a run on the Stanley Cup. MONTREAL Canadiens - When will Tremblay gonna get fired!!!!! CALGARY Flames - my team do not have a chance in the Stanley Cup Final at all. Heck, they are having problem trying to make the playoff this year. The Flames lack goal sorer and playmakers. Fleury is the only natural goalscorer on the team, Reichel with his attitude problem will be traded soon I believe. The guy is talented but hardheaded. He keeps on playing with a backward curve on his stick, then wonder why he is not scoring. CHances 2000-1 unless miracle happens. the rest are probably have the same odds. I hope this is not too long. :) TTYL Oscar --- PCBoard 15.2 * Origin: 32 lines 40 Gig BBS, Realtime InterNet SLIP (403)247-7900 (1:134/10) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 114 SPORTS Ref: E1X00000 Date: 01/26/97 From: DANIEL DERK Time: 10:43am \/To: BILLY SELVIA (Read 0 times) Subj: HOCKEY > I think Dallas will go far, I really don't know about them winning > the whole thing.
