They dont NEED something that badly -> do they? They sure don't need games badly, but if they can get them -> cheaper than sale -> price, why shouldn't they ? I recently heard an someone talking abou -> different habits in the US and Hungary. He said, that in Hungary eve -> cheats if has a good chance of getting away with it, which he has. -> The average time for the court to sentence someone is about 2 years. -> While in the US people try hard to keep the rules because you can -> get a court sentence in a few weeks or months. And the money -> penalties in the US are also -> much stricter. Here you would get nothing if someone's dog bites -> you. AFAIK in the US you can take him to court and get huge sums of -> money. And you consider this a blessing of some kind? I personally think of it as greed, if someone sues someone else over getting bitten by theyre dog (my friends mom actually did, but the kid was a baby and I cant remember the whole story).... Here let me explain something to you, greed. My gf heard this at school... It was in the paper i think... This family decides they want to go visit mexico for the day (a 30 min car ride from where I live) they try and find a babysitter for theyre baby, they find one, theyre just about to leave but the sitter calls in and cant come. They decide to take the baby WITH them... its old enough to walk on its own so that reasonably how old it is. The get down there and theyre walking around and the baby walks away from the mom for just a sec, the mom sees it and runs after, the baby turns a corner and a min later the mother rushes after around the corner, the babys gone. The family goes to the police, they say 'wait at the boarder' thats it. The family goes up and waits, about 2 hours later a man comes walking up to the border carrying a child, the mother sees him, eyeing him carefully and notices that the baby is hers! She screams and the cops go after him, he drops the kid and bails, donno if he was caught. The baby was, dead. It had been gutted and it had some drugs up inside it, probably coke or weed or something. This kinda shit happens all the time, mexico runs drugs up here in the tons, DAILY, why, money.... greed. what causes a person to sue another person for some inane sum (like say the coffee incident a while back which got a few million at least). It all leads back to greed, everyone just is not satisfied, nobody here can just kick the hell back and be reasonable, everyone goes over on theyre trip fits, its idiotic. I would like to live just about anywhere but here. joe --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.10 * Origin: The Mystic Tower BBS Santee, CA (619) 596-0271 (1:202/330.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 167 NO PIRACY Ref: E4T00006 Date: 04/23/97 From: ALBERT ALCOCEBA Time: 09:41pm \/To: KALMAN DANIEL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: heh Is it just me? I don't really care if you, for example, buy something a hundred times above the market price. This is your problem. So if we talk about being fair, my behaviour is not fair only against the author of the program. Maybe not even the author, rahter the distributor, because the authors usually don't receive money after each sold copy. So we came to the conclusion that I'm not fair to the distributor. The distributor, who sells the products on almost the same price as in developed countries such as ours, with much higher GDP and salaries. And expects the same profit, sometimes even more profit as the price of work is much lower here. Well, considering this, I can sleep quite well knowing that I break the law. On the other hand, if I chosed to buy the stuff, I should have worked for about a week for exactly the same program. Do you consider this fair ? Stay tuned to... Daniel SM_aRT@schoolmail.com ... KD> ML> And say I take it and you never know about it. Is that right? KD>No, it's not. But the difference is, this way I lose money which I would ge KD>if you did not exist. In my example, the programmer would not get money even KD>if I did not exist. He loses nothing compared to that situation. ML> He loses the money you would be giving him. I guess you don't understand what I'm trying to answer to your example. You said something like: someone takes my money without me ever realizing, s that fair or not ? I said it was not fair, because if that person did not exist I would have that money. But when we talk about software it is my decision to use the software or not. If I don't use it, I don't pay for it, that's obvious. Now, what if I use a software I know I can't pay for ? You say the author loses profit. I say this is not so obvious, because we supposed that I can no way have enough money to pay him. And of course, if I can't try a software I won't pay for it. But if I try a software (which is illegal with market releases now) I may buy it in the future when I will have enough money. Why ? For example because I don't want to be fined or jailed, and I will be able to afford to support the author. So why is it illegal to try ANY software for at least a few days ? I'm talking about business programs, not games. As for games, a one hour ree trial would also be reasonable. But since you think software prices are so strict and always mean money loss if not paid, lets consider an example. Lets say, SomeThing software company makes a new product, SomeThing 97. They can sell a very big amount of it, ut they are not satisfied. So, they make an insurance policy and sink their hip which carried 10000 Something 97. Unfortunatelly the whole cargo is lost. Now, how much do you say, would be a reasonable compensation for that loss ? If the price was $100, would you say that the company lost $1 million ? Or did they only loose the price of production, lets say $2 per product meaning $20000 ? And what if the ship was on it's way to a country where people ould never buy the product, for example a chinese language operating system in South America ? Did SomeThing software company really loose $1 million ??? I don't think so. ...noos kcab etirW Daniel SM_aRT@schoolmail.com ...
