The lyrics are not 1/10 as > MM> gory as their older stuff, and not as pessimistic as their final lbum. > GD> "New" Carcass, you mean? If the lyrics from "...Sickness" are > GD> anything to go by, then I'm not particularly impressed. > You gotta keep in mind that Jeff Walker had a very morbid sense of humour, > but if you caught it you'd be laughing out loud! It's all very gory and stuff > but you gotta look between the lines. For example, in Corporeal Jigsore > Quandary (a song about trying to re-assemble a cut up body) there's a line > that says "A squirming grisly jigsaw, detrital fragments fit so snug/That > missing piece will leave you stumped..." > Get it? "Leave you stumped"? hahahahah there's a double meaning there! hahahah double meaning death metal? heheh that's such a dumb pun it's funny the first time I heard Carcass was "Go to Hell" in the summer of 1996, if I remember correctly. it was one of the first really heavy bands i had heard (other than Slayer) ..the only words I could pick up (at the time my ability to translate death metal was weak!) were "Go to hell, go straight to hell! burn in the flames and go to hell!" and I couldn't stop laughing. I was laughing at how lame it was.. ...next thing I know I'm listening to that stuff daily! I live in Canada, north of America BB> WEll, i really wouldn't know... some say it is, some that it ain't... BB> I'm not going for either... or sth ;))) what's sth? BB> Well, his low vocals kick ass anyway... DL> yeah they do, but not as good on Principles... he's just talking in DL> Principles BB> So? ;) not the more atmospheric low drawls that are cooler... it's not very grandiose if you just hear a British dude talking! BB> WEll, you're in america right? so, goto www.blackmetal.com or BB> www.r-stream.com and gettittt... :) or even shops like cd-now.com have BB> them... ah, well I want them to get SOME money out of their work, after all, I wouldn't want people taping my music and I'm not getting royalties for them! Besides, their CD sleeves are well thought and laid out, not crap 4-page white cardboard with lyrics, thank yous, and a band logo scrawled out BB> It's good... to some it is great, but i personally thinkk they went a BB> little bit overboard with it on thi one... although some songs are BB> still pure excellence (dusk and her embrace, red roses...) yeah, it IS very atmospheric, and that's why I love it! I dunno why I like it, I was growing sick of melodic music and then I heard them and loved it! It's quite weird, I dunno how my mind works :) BB> Huh???? Firstly, Nocturnal supremacy rulezzz, and the instrumental BB> (she mourns....) is also one of their best (just behind iscariot - BB> principles) She mourns is boring! The Graveyard by Moonlight is my favourite, coupled with the harpsichord intro to Beauty Slept In Sodom. I like Nocturnal Supremacy, but it just doesn't surpass the first three songs slammed together, know what I mean? Wasn't Nocturnal Supremacy on the Beauth In Darkness compilation CD? BB> Well.. i hope you're just starting in the world of the black... I was BB> of equal oppinion to yours about a year and sth. ago, but now that i've BB> seen a lot of other things, i think CoF are a pretty middle-ish band... BB> There is a looooot talent in some other musiciaans also... But they are BB> professional writers, players.. can't blame em for that... I don't really consider COF as black... maybe black-influenced, but real black shouldn't be romantic or melodic. I'm still dying to hear Mayhem's Wolf's Lair Abyss and Emperor's In the Nightside Eclipse. I've heard nothing but praise for them, so I want to hear what it's all about. BB> You think that's wicked? Wait till you hear stuff from the likes of BB> ummm... Arckanum, Morgul, Burzum (the great asskicker ;))) ),... i dunt BB> know... there are many great bands outthere... Burzum? The only Burzum found anywhere here is the new Balder's Dod and that's hardly metal! It's hard to find black metal around here... The only Mayhem I can find here is Wolf's Lair Abyss and the Deathcrush EP. Unless you consider Morbid Angel to be black metal (which I don't, of course!) I can't wait to dig into black metal, but that'll have to wait until I'm bored of death metal (I get bored of a genre after a year or two) BB> The one on vempire is faster, but the principles version is rawwer, BB> much worse sounding and more haunting with shittier guitars... :) It's BB> epic eitherway... ah thanks for filling me in. I could recognize that weird intro anywhere :) BB> BEcause it's an intro...aalmost nobody prints intros (well, some bnds BB> print only intros but what the hey :) ) oh, it's just an intro? Sounds like a damn fine song to me! They should've printed it, maybe to gain some insight into the Vempire story. They also should've printed Cronos' War Speech at the end of Haunted Shores ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Maximus 3.01 * Origin: LutherNet Christian BBS (1:153/7036) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 166 MUSIC Ref: F1^00051 Date: 01/29/98 From: DENNIS LEONG Time: 06:54pm \/To: MARTIN BRUNAS (Read 0 times) Subj: Album Of The Week: Megad -=> Quoting Martin Brunas to Dennis Leong <=- MB> YoUre goint to one side to the other side :) MB> I donUt like the machine music because they havenUt got MB> feelings.
