S> What music do you meen then talk 'baut "punk" music ?? S> I like some OLD punk bands but that now some poeple call punk i cant S> understand ! Punk Rawk music isn't just about the music my friend. It has more meaning than that. The punk rawk you are prolly use to was glamour or fasion punk like the rest of the 80's. The Clash, The Dead Kennedies, The Sex Pistols, etc... are all pretty much like the bands today talking about political problems and personal affairs. Some bands consider politics to be a personal matter because it something they are concerned about. Punk is about anti-racism, anti-homophobia, anti-sexism, anti-fascism, etc... anything that is basically is ignorant. * SPITFIRE v3.51 ** RainTree BBS - 804-740-2413 - 300-28.8k baud - 24HRS A DAY ** --- FreeMail 1.10 alpha-3 * Origin: RainTree BBS - 804-741-5105 - 300-28.8 (1:264/323) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 166 MUSIC Ref: F1F00038 Date: 01/10/98 From: KENNETH YATES Time: 11:47am \/To: JUSTIN SMITH (Read 0 times) Subj: Green Day's "Nimrod" > Ooooo you're stepping out on a limb there. That isn't true. JS> Ok, maybe "all early punk bands" is a little overstated, but JS> certainly alot of them were. The whole selling out thing didn't JS> become the big thing for all punk bands until later on. The whole "sellout" deal is overratted. Some "cool" person decided it would be really neat to cause a rucass and say "hey, what a sellout they are, because they wanna make it big." Then everyone else said yeah good point looking over the abvious > And those punk bands who actually did make it on TV > and the Radio were prolly making a little money but nothing > really big. JS> But their goal was still to make money. Yeah, I was listening to the Classh the other day and kinda heard a little resemblence in a few of the songs, but I still seriously doubt that Billy Joe was trying to be like them because instrumental wise, they have more pep, louder, and their message is more gen-x than being political and what not. * SPITFIRE v3.51 ** RainTree BBS - 804-740-2413 - 300-28.8k baud - 24HRS A DAY ** --- FreeMail 1.10 alpha-3 * Origin: RainTree BBS - 804-741-5105 - 300-28.8 (1:264/323) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 166 MUSIC Ref: F1F00041 Date: 01/10/98 From: SEBASTJAN ZUPAN Time: 03:08pm \/To: ANDY CIBOROWSKI (Read 0 times) Subj: Zubi & Europe Concerts AC> Where are you from? Yeeeouch, what a way to go. :-/ There is NOTHING on www.theguesswho.com or www.burtoncummings.com about this, oddly enough, although there's plenty of talk on the former about "The Guess Who" having lost their current vocalist to other pursuits. I wonder if the folks who know the band from the casino scenes even know that the band existed during the 60s and 70s. --- GoldED 3.00.Beta2+ - Spank Our Wombats! * Origin: Valencia: "Smarter than the average bear."
