Have you taken over Spock's body and mind now? -> -> CA> That is illogical. Simple mind meld. -> -> Oh? What are we melding my mind for? Purpose is thus far unknown! I had Spock's album out a day or two ago. Still haven't put it away so here's a track list and tiny review. The album title is no joke! Leonard Nimoy Leonard Nimoy Presents Mr. Spock's Music From Outer Space DOT DLP 25794, 1967 1 1/2 stars for content -+- 5 stars for novelty value Song list: 1. Theme from "Star Trek" 2. Alien 3. Where is Love 4. Music to Watch Space Girls By 5. Beyond Antares 6. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Earth 7. Mission Impossible 8. Lost in the Stars 9. Where No Man Has Gone Before 10. You Are Not Alone 11. A Visit to a Sad Planet Total time: approximately. 25 minutes I hadn't listened to this for a year or two, typing of it made me pull it out and dust off the turntable. And I remember why it hasn't been out in some time. Half the tracks are "spacey" instrumentals which the Ventures might have written while stoned blind. "Mission Impossible" is obviously filler. When we hear Nimoy's voice, it is immediately apparent he is "in character". Calling it Wordcore would insult the ilks of Maggy Estep, Juliana Luecking, and Peter Toliver. Hearing this, one would never suspect he'd end up on Broadway in _Fiddler on the Roof_ excepting if everyone else in the world died. While the album is copyrighted 1967, my recollection is that it was released in February of 1968. As a member of Spock's Fan Club, it was in my hands right away! And as Spice Girls torture parents these days, I imagine I tortured mine with this as they rate about the same with me for content. End of review... -> -> ST> CA> Wish for nothing but the best and accept the rest with -> grace -> CA> and ST> CA> dignity. :) -> -> -> ST> words spoken from a kind person! -> -> -> CA> Who? Sigh, I was hoping it -> -> CA> wasn't so. I have my portable CD player set to "2" out of 10 -> -> CA> now... -> -> well if I had one I would set it to 8! You may want to try a lower level, say 4, and see how that sounds after 10 minutes. It may seem extremely soft, but once your ears acclimate it may be enough. -> -> Well blame it on the ex and his Dj'ing...in an arena with the -> biggest -> baddest -> -> speakers I've ever seen; music bouncing off the walls..it's hard -> to -> -> not notice or hear the music for what it is LOUD! -> -> CA> I use RTR HPR-12M "Magnum" speakers on my home stereo. In other words, when I -> CA> this sucker, ears will bleed (measured 142 db @ 100 watts and -> that's -> CA> only half what the receiver will shove.) -> Talk in newbie terms will ya!! Speakers differ greatly in how efficiently they change electrical energy into sound. Average for models from 300 different brands is 92 db @ 1 watt @ 1 meter. Every increase of 3 db doubles the loudness. Thus a speaker with a rating of 95 would be twice as loud as one with a rating of 92. Pain threshold for most people is less than 110 db. Which would be about equivalent of putting your ear against a car horn... -> CA> Most of the time I listen at right around an average level of -> 80.. -> -> Just set a "2"? I wouldn't even be able to hear that!! -> -> CA> Is fine for me - I don't want to damage my hearing. -> -> I guess mine is already damaged then eh? Perhaps not. As I mentioned, try lowering the volume and see if your ears adapt... -> -> CA> Car repair: -> CA> These days, for the most part, the most I want to know is how to -> CA> load the CD changer. -> Well this is a good thing to know! I am sure when I get one I won't -> able to figure it out...too many buttons!! The more buttons, the better the unit. Ask any audiophile! ... -> -> And no I've never installed a stereo in my car! My cassette player -> -> doesn't work in my car it tends to eat the cassettes. Wanna come -> up -> here and fix it for me? Or at least tell me what to do? I -> have -> to be able to listen to Bryan Adams when I'm out touring you -> know! -> CA> Usually when a cassette deck eats tapes, it is dirty. Ever clean -> CA> it? -> Noooo!! Just got the car last year and it was like that when I got -> it... never asked anyone why it didn't work; just accepted for what -> it was... a broken cassette player!! Try giving it a good cleaning then try a name brand (Sony / TDK / Maxell) "normal bias" blank tape (cost less than $0.75 here). Run it completely through both sides. If the deck doesn't eat it, it should work fine. Then in the future, clean it every couple months. More often if you're a smoker, often have smokers in the car, or are using it more than half an hour a day.
