Larry's old break barrel JW75 looked great and shot better yet. Now I want one (though don't "need" one as have a nice, customized R1). Any it is worth repeating that the trigger is so delightful that a Rekord trigger by comparison seems like a tire iron. The small ground squirrels we hunted were challenging targets, but Larry is a good offhand shot and didn't have problems as we walked slowly along the edges of the large fields of young alfalfa. Robert Hamilton ---------- From: lhdurham@mindspring.com To: Multiple recipients of list AIRGUN.LIST Subject: Re: Shooting in your own yard Date: Wednesday, April 29, 1998 1:17AM Robert, My JW75 Whiscombe was putting 14.3 Premiers out at 875-880fps. The "std" trigger is so good It seems silly to opt for the "match", as its the difference between 4oz and 2oz on the 2nd stages. I do not consider the decocking feature important, as I routinely leave my Whiscombe cocked for long periods while hunting with no ill effects ... my gun is quite old, and I once deliberately left it cocked for a week to "detune" it (I wanted to shoot Premier lights subsonic), but there was no effect at all. ld --------------------- -- (Larry Durham) AirPower Information Services BBS * 610-259-2193 http://www.airpower.com Telnet://airpower.dyn.ml.org --- QScan/PCB v1.19b / 01-0671 * Origin: AirPower Home of AIRGUN*HQ 610-259-2193 (1:273/408) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 165 AIRGUNS Ref: F5G00275 Date: 04/29/98 From: HAMILTON, ROBERT E,, DMD Time: 05:10pm \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: peculiarities of aggression 17:10:0004/29/98 Newsgroups: AIRGUN.LIST Hi Folks: If I had been a vegetarian, I would have been depressed.....here are these little rodents who should be happily content to eat the sweet, juicy alfafa shoots and other politically-correct veggies, avidly seizing the opportunity to indulge in eating their fellow (shot) ground squirrels. One would think these little furry innocent creatures of Ma Nature would not indulge in grisly stuff like cannibalism......alas, another case of an unexpected reality intruding upon the warm, fuzzy concept of cute, gentle squirrels! As for the distance, it was at the 220 mark for sure(with my short leg, 238 paces)...In order for it to be legit, we had to find the squirrel and show it to them. Now, generally when you shoot them and leave them for just a little while, the rest of the squirrels would run to it and drag it down its hole for a nice meal for themselves so as soon as I got that little bugger, I had to run all the way there and put the squirrel in the box so that they would not drag it down. Then I was waiting for the rest of the day for Robert to rangefind the squirrel, but time ran out and I paced it off for ld an Wayne. --- QScan/PCB v1.19b / 01-0671 * Origin: AirPower Home of AIRGUN*HQ 610-259-2193 (1:273/408) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 165 AIRGUNS Ref: F5G00276 Date: 04/29/98 From: LARRY DURHAM Time: 05:10pm \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Janet Reno to kids Message-ID: <35478FA3.45076B6E@mindspring.com> Newsgroups: AIRGUN.LIST Larry Durham wrote: > Janet Reno, an old lady with no kids, now takes time off from persecuting > and burning up families to plant the same seed used in Communist countries > and Nazi Germany used to divide families and their kids! Federal law says you CAN receive airguns by mail in NJ, at least the way I interpret it. ========= -courtesy of the AIRPOWER BBS (610) 259-2198 The following was reproduced from the Beeman Shooter news dated July 15, 1989. The way I read it. local restrictions on the sale of Air guns have been in violation of Federal law since this has been passed. " Update on Airgun Laws! On May 5, 1989 the DOLE AMENDMENT to the FEDERAL ENERGY MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT ACT became effective. This Federal law was won by the persistance and hard work of gun enthusiasts like you who let your Congressional Representative know what you wanted. In the state of California the ROBERTI TOY GUN BILL duplicates the first two items listed below: `1. This amendment prohibits any state and local governments from restricting the sale of airguns after May 5, 1989. States may, however, restrict sales to minors, a term which is to be defined by state or local law. 2. Affirms that airguns are not toy guns, and exempts them from requirements for blaze-orange or other colorful markings designed to identify imitation or other look-alike guns. 3. Bars states from prohibiting the sale or manufacture of any look-alike, non-firing, collector replica, or an antique firearm developed prior to 1898.' Because of this amendment we all continue to have the freedom to enjoy the excellent sport of airgunning. We can thank ourselves for making it possible." ============== Of course, this doesn't mean you don't have to prove it to them. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jim Henry AirPower BBS 610-259-2193 http://www.airpower.com Telnet://airpower.dyn.ml.org Fido 1:273/0 PRN 176:500/0 jim@AirGunHQ.com jim@airpower.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ * 1st 2.00 #9525 * Smith & Wesson, the ULTIMATE in feminine protection! --- QScan/PCB v1.19b / 01-0671 * Origin: AirPower Home of AIRGUN*HQ 610-259-2193 (1:273/408) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 165 AIRGUNS Ref: F5G00278 Date: 04/30/98 From: MR RANDAL K SPARKS Time: 05:06am \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Shooting in your own yard 05:06:0004/30/98 Message-ID: <199804300714.DAA12862@mime4.prodigy.com> Newsgroups: AIRGUN.LIST dtf wrote: --[ ORIGINAL MESSAGE ]----------------- Maybe you should take a hard look at the traditional American answer to this problem a Sheridan pump rifle in .20 or a Benjamin in .22 Plently of power, good accuracy, naturallly variable power, fully capable of doing the job as The Benj and Dans are still being made today by Crosman, but they just don't seem to show up at the Walmarts, etc. ----- END ORIGINAL MESSAGE ----- Only he was wrong. The last time I was in the WalMart here in Boise, ID they had the Benjamins on sale for only $100. I think they had both the .177 and the .22, but not sure about the .22. Our local K-Mart won't carry airguns over .177 caliber, but several sporting goods stores do have all three calibers.
