Prior to the release of the WP8 Suite, Corel was supposedly still offering the 5.1+ version of WP-DOS to folks without the hardware capability required by their version 6-up software. JR> What I seem to be failing to communicate is that no one carries it. The only place I ever saw the plus version mentioned after WP 6.xx hit the market was direct from WordPerfect, then direct from Novell and seemingly at first it was available from Corel direct. (I realize this thread is a month old now and seems to have died by this point -- but someone I know got an old 286 as her first PC in 1995 and was able to get the Plus version at that time in that way, since it was the last WP that would run on anything less than a 386-level machine.) While I didn't try *everything* WPD 6.0b was capable of doing, I did load a few WP documents and play around with them a bit in both text and graphics views. I started with whatever the version was that first came out for the PC's, about 1984. May have been 3-something (the earliest WP was a Data General item). While I can't confirm what came as part of that earliest PC version, there was a Convert in 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 5.0 and 5.1. I'd skipped 4.1 and 5.0 when those were new & ended up acquir- ing the missing versions later in the sequence. Never having seen (or even ever *HEARD OF* a CovertPerfect), I can only imagine it added a few additional file formats beyond the half dozen or so (in earliest versions anyway) that the included Convert would handle. PH> ^^^^^^^^^ My incomplete phrase -- the "typical 286's" seldom have much in the way of RAM, while a more typical unit at the 386 level has more than 1 MB in it. The typical 286 had either a 30 or 40 MB HDD compared to the 60-plus sizes of HDD's on 386's. Her system had a single MB of RAM, Hercules clone MGA video. and a 20 MB HDD, for which versions 6.x simply would be beyond its capability. Limited storage was among the problems the 286 in question placed on the equation. Incidentally, it was my own feeling that both of the 6.0 WordPerfect products were unbelievably sluggish on systems of the period they were released in. I skipped from 5.1 to 6.1 to avoid being frustrated with the snail-like qualities. Bill D ... Your honor, I object...
