Do they send stuff out >(product announcements, etc) to people who hold licenses? Not really. When 6.1 for dos came out, I called them to get the price on the upgrade and have them check my license. They didn't have it on file so I gave them all the info. Never got any stuff back from them. I don't think they care about dos users. Discussions about other Corel products included in the Suite are also fair game. 2 - Discussion of non-WordPerfect software should be taken to the appropriate echo. However, discussion of commercial and shareware third-party applications designed to work with WordPerfect (i.e., document templates, macros, font systems, off-line readers, etc.) is allowed. Discussions about tweaking operating systems or writing batch files to optimize the use of WordPerfect are permissible until they move away from the focus of this echo, which is WordPerfect. 3 - When asking for help or posting information on a product please include the version number and platform of the software. This will help everyone keep track of what we're talking about (i.e., "I'm using WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS..."). Discussion of all versions of WordPerfect products on all platforms is welcome. 4 - No personal attacks (aka flaming) are permitted in the echo. This includes berating a reader for asking a question or posting a message you find simple/stupid/offensive. The moderator will deal with any violations of the rules. If you feel you must reply, please use private mail. In addition, profanity will not be tolerated. 5 - ANSI Graphics are not allowed in any message. This includes personal signatures and taglines. These characters can cause severe problems on some systems that receive the echo. Lengthy signatures with ASCII art are also frowned on. 6 - As the majority of the echo users are English speaking, messages in this conference should be in English whenever possible. However, all users are welcome. 7 - Software/Hardware wars (My word processor/drawing package/computer is better than yours) will not be tolerated. 8 - Real names are preferred. In other words, please refrain from using an alias. 9 - Above all else, enjoy the conference and feel free to jump in on any message or conversation that interests you. NOTE - This echo is in no way affiliated with Corel Corporation and is run by and for users of WordPerfect. All Corel product names are trademarks of Corel. Thanks! Back in the old days before I got Wordperfect 5.1 a friend had given me a utility called PCMCVT.COM (Version 1.0 1993) to use whenever I came across any files which had been saved in Wordperfect 5.1 format. What the utility did was to strip out all the code from the WP 5.1 file and leave only the dos text. Well, the years have come and gone and now files are accessable via the internet. One day I found myself looking for a document on the web when, after quite a search, I finally found what I was looking for...sorta. At the web site I located the document which I could download was available in two formats: (1) PDF file format or (2) Wordperfect 6.1 format. Well, after seeing what my options were I wasn't too happy being as I didn't have WP 6.1. I did download the WP 6.1 version document but couldn't use it being as my version of WP couldn't open up this newer WP file. I didn't have WP6.1 at the time so I sent the file over to a friend of mine who did have the program. He converted the document over to dos text format for me and sent it back. Now, what I was wondering was if anyone knows of any utilities (which do not come with WordPerfect) which will strip the code out of the newer WordPerfect file format OR which will convert Wordperfect docs to dos text file format? I don't know why the site at which I was at didn't make the files available in dos text (or ascii text) file format for there are a lot of people who don't have the WordPerfect program. In any event, if anyone knows of any BBS's or Interent web sites which have utilities which will convert WordPerfect saved files to dos or ascii text file format I'd appreciate it if they would let me know where these sites are located at. I clicked the "OK" button, noticed that the mailer noted the new time and trundled off to bed. :-) Next morning, that SAME box had re-appeared (as I leave the computer on but kill the monitor) and it wanted me to "OK" the fact Win95 had adjusted the time.... AGAIN!!!! Seeing I hadn't clicked OK, it sat there till the morning TWO hours back instead of one... Now... Had I sat there each 2am and clicked "OK".... Sheesh! On to something more appropriate... Has anyone successfully installed WP6.0 for DOS under Win95? Experimented with a copy of 6.1 for Windows but the DeskJet 500 won't print envelopes. WP for Windows sensed that an envelope had been installed, ejected it and refused to properly form feed regular paper. WP 6.0 dos does this correctly, but runs slower than molasses. Got rid of the Windows 6.1 version as it didn't do what I wanted. Comments? Most notably, from DeskJet 500 owners...
