However when WP does the hyphenation it still uses the computer hyphen (which is somewhat to small). So the question is simple: how do I change in WP6DOS the hyphen sign for hyphenation. Thank you for your answer. I guess you are one of those people who could not possibly have seen books published before 1884? Perhaps you can explain your definition of a standard better? I really don't understand why you guys are getting so hot under the collar when I suggest there was (and, arguably) still is a standard of employing two spaces after a period? Well, a compromise might be in order: let's use 1.88 spaces after a period, and you can use .75 spaces between words. I mean, if you are seriously using a proportionate font, then you will get the point that I am trying to make: the conclusion of a sentence needs something far more substantial than any of the other spaces in the sentence. --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Com-Dat BBS - Hillsboro, OR. Normally this should bring up the fax dialogbox of WP. I'm using WP 6.0b for DOS. Is this a (well-known) bug, or am I doing something wrong? Thank you for your response. I think it was hitting a backspace while typing the letter text that would cause the on-screen cursor to shift to apparently about 1" to the left of its actual position (as shown by the reveal codes screen). --- Via Silver Xpress V4.4P [Reg] --- QM v1.30 * Origin: FOG-Line - Ankeny Iowa - 515-964-7937 (1:290/627.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 163 WORD PERFECT Ref: E3Z00003 Date: 03/29/97 From: MATTHEW MONTCHALIN Time: 12:15am \/To: MARTY TABNIK (Read 5 times) Subj: Thesaurus -> JN> a wonderful book titled the PC Is Not a Typewriter which covers -> JN> this and other subtleties. -> -> The genius [sic!] who wrote that work was ignorant of this -> well-known fact -> More white space makes text easier to read. -> -> Try it yourself. -> -> Use your editor to smoosh up several pages into a single 'graph. -> -> Two spaces between each sentence gives the reader more "hooks" -> and "rest stops". -> -> -> PS: Proportional spacing was *NOT* invented in the PC age. -> For example, there was the IBM "Executive" typewriter.
