I have created a flyer with WP 6.0 DOS, using subdivided page. That gives me three "columns" in which to print my text. What I want to do is rotate the text 90 degrees in one "column" (in one page subdivision). So far, all tricks have failed. Paper orientation changes the whole 8.5 x 11 sheet, not just a one third subdivision. If I create a graphics box, I can rotate it 90 degrees, but what I want is a text box. A text box will not let me rotate it in edit mode, and a graphics box won't let me enter text. I don't know how to rotate a table. What else can I try? I remember seeing text at various angles on a page in WP Mag, but I don't know what issue or if that issue will solve my problem. While I am flipping page by page through the stack, I hope one of you will tell me how to do this. --bob --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: CPAFUG WashDC Area (301) 989-8960 (1:109/422) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 163 WORD PERFECT Ref: DEC00019 Date: 10/07/96 From: LONA CARTER Time: 06:41pm \/To: LUTZ WINKLER (Read 7 times) Subj: Legal/Medical Dictionary -> For medical/pharmaceutical try Stedman's , 1-800-527-5597. I believe what you want to do is controlled by your particular printer driver. Not all printers support landscape printing. *I* have a Canon BJ-610 printer, and can put text rotated to any orientation on the page. My previous printer (Panasonic KX-P2123 24-pin) only supported rotated text in 90 degree increments. When I selected a text box, I had the option of rotating the box in a dialogue box. Anyway, I would first check to see if your printer supports text mixed in portrait and landscape mode. Antoher way you might be able to get around it is to print the whole page graphically. While I've never (seldom enough to be "never") defined the page size, I read the several replies about that. I violated one of my own rules and posted my thoughts on the subject (above) _before_ trying my solution. I found I was wrong! You can have global margins narrowier than Column margins and WP will adjust accordingly with no problems. Phil, Thanks for the reply. I have a LaserJet 4p, and the text edit box (WP 6.0 DOS) shows no rotation option, so I installed a Canon BJ-600 (no driver available for the BJ-610), and the text edit box still showed no rotation option. Either my HP LaserJet allows only the landscape and portrait options for the whole sheet, or my WP version is not like yours, or the BJ-600 does not allow rotation variations, or... PH>Anyway, I would first check to see if your printer supports text mixed >in portrait and landscape mode. Antoher way you might be able to get >around it is to print the whole page graphically. Ah, yes. I messed with that before putting up the message. I see only two ways to create a graphic segment of text on a page with an orientation unlike the segment: use the equation editor (does not allow all the font and appearance changed I need for the segment), or create the segment, scan it in, and rotate it in a graphic box. That may work, but in the rough-draft-edit-proof-edit (on and on) stage, this is way too slow, not to mention WP's slow printing of a graphic that has been modified in WP. All me gripes aside, this may ultimately be my solution to the problem. I was hoping for a more efficient way. --bob --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: CPAFUG WashDC Area (301) 989-8960 (1:109/422) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 163 WORD PERFECT Ref: DEE00001 Date: 10/09/96 From: BOB SAWYER Time: 02:56pm \/To: PHIL HEBERER (Read 7 times) Subj: Mixed Rotations Phil, I forgot to mention another possible solution: make the camera-ready copy the old fashion way with paper, scissors, and glue.
