They have all sorts of programs that can give any child all the social interaction you could want. Including Late Night Friday nights are Teens only. Membership is required for the student but for the money I think it's worth it. They have swim, gymnastics, tap, ballet, sports development classes as well as programs designed just for home schoolers. Also check with the local schools, some will allow home schoolers into things like band, sports teams, school dances and such. Just depends on the school. Take care! We are just finishing up the second grade here, so, we haven't been shopping for cap and gown yet. Hope you have a great, "real" graduation! Are you going to continue homeschooling right on through high school? He's gotten spoiled being home, being able to read whatever and whenever he wants, being able to do art, science or computer projects that suit *him* and not some teacher, etc. The best part art the "lazy days" when we get up late, start late, and still get to finish a whole day's work. He also loves the fact that he'll be finished with the school year in mid-May and his friends still have to go to those yucky, hot, dusty, sweaty public schools until the end of June. No, we already picked out our high school curriculum and he's picked what courses he's taking for electives. The main work will be coming from Seton and he has a few things picked out to do via independent study to take CLEP exams on so he gets dual credit. He can't wait until he's old enough to be able to take some courses in one of the tech schools - he really wants some hands-on experience in the technical side of computers, both hardware & software, and we won't let him gut these machines that we have at home (for obvious reasons). :) All the places around here want their students adult age - 18 or over. --- QScan/PCB v1.17b / 01-0035 * Origin: Agora Online -- Bayonne, NJ 201-437-4355 v.34 (1:2630/312) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 158 HOME SCHOOLING Ref: F2Q00000Date: 02/19/98 From: APRIL DAWN Time: 09:36am \/To: JERRY GINTHER (Read 0 times) Subj: homeschoolers I'm homeschooled. I have a couple of questions to ask of anyone that may have been participating in this echo for awhile. First of all is it true that there is currently NO moderator? Who was doing the job? How do we keep the echo on the fidonet backbone? I'm fairly new to the "game" so I don't know if these are appropriate questions even. Like most of you, I just saw the notice that this echo is about to be dropped for lack of a moderator and listing. Maybe someone knows the prodecure to remedy this. If so, please, fill me in.
