I have two daughters, 9 and 13 years old, who've always been schooled at home. What's the homeschooling "climate" in Australia? Does it vary in different areas, as it does here from state to state? As far as methods are concerned, I think here in WAshington State there are as many methods as there are homeschooled ildren. I am sure I do not have the challenges you have. Your note interested me because I have a brother with Prader-Willi Syndrome. He is 43 yrs. old and will be entering a group home, especially for PWS, soon. He still lives at home with my parents. Do you have access to much information on PWS in your country? If not, I would be pleased to send you anything you might find interesting. My parents have accumulated quite a bit of info over the years. Hope to "talk" again soon, Barb Heath P.S. We have decided to go with the RMCA. (Rocky Mountain Christian Academy) which uses "The School of Tomorrow" curriculum. The reason for going with them initally, is that they are Colorado based,...are aware of the "LAWS" of the state regarding home-school, and will keep me from giving the "system" any ammo to shoot down the homeschool effort here. In addition, they do the testing, and maintain records, as well as submit the required forms to the state. If in a couple of years we feel comfortable to go-it-alone, we will make that decision at that time. RMCA also offers tutoring if needed, as well as it's own programs in PE, and some of the fine arts (courses that are also required in Colo.) Anyway, we think that it would be best to be affiliated with some folks who know the ropes,...so as not to be the recipient of the "Institutional Angst". Julie is going to be doing a diagnostic this next week to determine where she is at,...then we can get set up with the curriculum coursework. Just curious Nancy, why does your daughter want to go into the AirForce? Does she want to fly? (pilot type of career?) Mark --- GEcho 1.11+ * Origin: -===GUARDIAN SYSTEM===- 303-766-0635 DEN,CO. I've been searching for a particular old movie, made by Disney. I haven't een it in any of the rental places, never seen it for sale, and I haven't caught it on Disney Channel, ever. So now I'm wondering if they have ever released it. The movie I am referring to is "Westward Ho the Wagons". It's a musical, and I believe it was made in the mid-60s. It was a historical fictionalized musical about the settling of the west. I have some of the sheet music from it, and I also have a very old Wonderful World of Disney about the movie, called "Along the Oregon Trail", but I have not found the movie itself. I loved college! -=> What does your daughter plan for the future? I don't know. We really have not gone very deep into that discussion. I *DO* want her to know, though,...that she can do "anything" that she puts her mind to. I just hope that whatever she does.....she loves doing. My entire life, well ever since I was five years old, I have always wanted (was CONSUMED with) the desire to be an Airline Pilot. That desire saw me through my Mother's 5 marriages,...and aviation was my "brass ring" so to speak. So that is what I do for a living. It couldn't be better,...nor could I be happier. I just hope that she does what makes her happy. She lacks a lot in the self esteem department,...and THAT is something that I need to help her with. (Hmmmm, maybe I should take her skydiving. Not really.) Mark --- GEcho 1.11+ * Origin: -===GUARDIAN SYSTEM===- 303-766-0635 DEN,CO. USA (1:104/538)
