They haven't been virus tested either. Most of the programs said shareware, although I have a couple that are demos. These demos were 1 1/2 to 2 megs and one was for teaching music. You are suppose to be able to do some stuff on the computer with it including printing tests. I don't know for sure if any of these programs off the internet are crippled, but as I look at them sometime starting next week I will let you know. As far as other shareware, my husband belongs to fidonet and we get regular echo areas also that I did not include. So far we have not set them up for freq (I like to protect our users so that area does stipulate they are not scanned and not available for freq at this time, but if you saw something you like I can mail it to you through the internet. They are not registered programs so it should be legal (I've never sent files that way, but what the heck I will try anything once). I know you run a mail only board and if it will except files and you are part of fido I could do that also. I just downloaded more files again. Hey with the internet being all you can eat for one price, I will get all I can and just weed them out one at a time. We have massive storage space and we also can get our share ware burned on CD to save more space so why not. Regina ... This tagline is SHAREWARE! One for the kids, I have my pentium and my husband runs a measly old 486 DX-120 with 7 gigs (this is the BBS). I have a modem too, but right now we only have one phone line again so the phone line is for the BBS and if anyone needs us they call on my husbands beeper. By the way, how come you don't have your own board for more than just mail? Anyways, I also have a gig and the kids only get 360 which is filling up. Not bragging, just letting you know I love files. What state do you live in? There's homeschooling groups in every state, nd I'm sure someone can give you a phone number close to you, to get info bout your state's laws and requirements to homeschool. In New Jersey, there are no requirements, and the law is on our side. Some states are quite strict, and go as far as requiring parents to incorporate a real, legal, school, require parents to have teacher certification, and all that. Being 16, you -can- quit school, tho, and pursue whatever interests you have. GEDs are easy enough to get, and maybe there's some local colleges where you can take courses.. As far as cost, it depends on what you choose to do. I haven't spent much for materials (except another computer for our son), some books and things. Some people pay for correspondence courses and packaged curriculum, I haven't felt a need for those. I think it's better than public school for alot of reasons, the biggest advantage being freedom :) Freedom to do what -we- want, when we want o. I don't have schedules, I'm not didactic with our son. He's only 5, but doing well :) As far as how someone your age might respond to home schooling.. Depends. I think I would be bored unless my parents had some well defined bjectives, and the materials to reach them, particularly in sciences, but my parents wouldn't have ever wanted to do home schooling :) . How much are your parents going to be involved with home schooling? It sounds like you want to make decisions on your own (asking for homeschooling info, on your own ) so perhaps you should look into local colleges or vocational schools that offer courses that interest you. Since I don't know which state you are in (and too lazy to look up the fido node you're posting from ;) here's a number to the National Homeschool Assoc. in Michigan, (513)772-9580. You can find state-level and local groups through them. Good luck! :) -CiAo Cindy Ingersoll ...
