PHAN is a network I am building up which will provide homeschoolers with information. Usually of a secular or alternative religion base. Local, state, and national support groups, State and Federal laws, business taht offers educator's discounts, curricula sources, hopefully rated by the home educator's who use them, correspondence school info, someday a newsletter and other services. It all depends on what I can gather and what other educators are willing to pass on. If I find information here that might be useful, I add it to my database. We then have school 3 days a week for the rest of the summer, giving them 4 day weekends, so they feel like they are getting a break. They are both comforable with this arrangement. I dont feel that they need 3 months to do absolutely nothing, and it also allows us to take my vacation (february) off for two weeks and a few days during the year for field trips and fun days without falling behind in the text books or not satisfying Florida's required hours per day. . I home schooled my three children through high school graduation. Our oldest daughter recently graduated from college. Since all of our children are in their early twenties, you can imagine we started home schooling when it wasn't very popular and received lots from criticism from both family and friends. The rewards are too numerous to mention here and family and friends became more supportive and understanding over the years. So, again, if I can be of assistance to any of you presently home schooling or just offer a word of encouragement from time to time I'm here for that.
