Hi Folks, I generally lurk around in this area, picking up hints, etc from all the wizards. But I do have a problem. Recently I upgraded from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. Its really good, but I have now lost my Thesaurus in Word 6.0. I had it operating great under Win 3.1 on the Australian version of the Thesaurus. But when I select Tools, Options, Spelling I notice that the Spelling is set on UK and, try as I might, it won't save to Aus. Each time I try to locate a word in the thesaurus it comes up "Not found" and tries to substitute another word which is usually nothing like the original word. The actual Thesaurus window comes up, but it seems as though it cannot locate any data. I dare not muck around with the settings as I'm not sure what I'm doing! Can anyone offer any advice on this one? Robert, I hope that you had a nice X-mas. I have been off the echoes for a while, my BBS lost the feed! What can I say? I address this to you as you have given me some right on answers before. I have addressed a post to all a while back and got no reply because of the a/n problem. Here goes again. I "translated" some Wordperfect documents into Word 7.0. Then I was trying to reformat the margins and such and could not. Randomly in the documents are some little characters, look like small 4-legged bugs, that seem to hold control on the paragraphs. I can not get rid of them! I can not even delete them when I highlight the beasts. Some of them sit right behind a paragraph character when that button is selected in the text. Funny thing too, they sit outside of the right margin. I looked into the symbol page and I was going to do a "replace" job on them but they are not there. They are close to an "ALT 0164" but that is not them at all. What can you tell me about them? The tag says what I am using today.... :-) Have nice day. ... Is a C=128 really worth 2 C=64? From the table menu, turn on "gridlines". If indeed you have tables, then this will turn on a dotted outline, delineating the cells of the table. I believe this is the way that Word handles conversion of some forms of Wordperfect columns. You can get rid of the table, by using the table option to convert to text. However, be cautious in doing so. Word does a good job of converting Wordperfect documents to the nearest equivalent layout form. If you have tables, then the "bugs" will not print. Check print preview to confirm that these are really just paragraph markers in tables, and not some form of character. You should not be able to view them in print preview.
