You need a site to put your RP>BB>stuff up on. Your internet provider should be able to provide you RP>BB>with one, but it will cost you. If all you want to do is try it RP>BB>to see how it works, just load the html page in your viewer. RP>BB>Double clicking on it should do it. If you are running Win95 and RP>BB>have IE, this will work. That is how I tested mine before I ran RP>BB>it on the FTP site. Oh, make sure all of your links are in the RP>BB>same directory, including any graphics. RP>I am with you for the most part, but I do need to be able to upload RP>my work? And that would take some kinda FTP ultility? I have a dip RP>stick page set-up on Geocitites, for free all that come get 1 meg of RP>space. Yes you need an upload utility. An FTP upload utility can be obtained fairly easily. You will need to know the ftp address (usually ftp.somewhere.com) and a specific directory to upload to. Remember to upload html files as text and graphics as binary. The ftp utility should be able to handle this for you. RP>But I am working on a much bigger site, using pure HTML code and need RP>a utility to upload it to the provider. I have been told and found RP>it to be true that netscape can not handle the long path names that RP>some systems require, to get it to where it needs to be??? RP>I understand FTP - File Transfer Protocol, but I also understand that RP>with out a utility to upload with, you are kinda lost as a goose in RP>a hail strom... You can obtain these for free from various places. There are several at www.windows95.com. One of the best is WS_FTP. It is free. RP>I can see how word can test your page/links, but for the life of me I RP>dont know how to upload my work? I recommend that you test it using a real browser (Netscape or MSIE). Like I said with IE you can test it off of your local hard drive by simply double clicking on the html file. Oh, BTW, most web sites load the first page as index.htm(l). Hope this helps. --- * CMPQwk #1.42-R2 * UNREGISTERED EVALUATION COPY * Origin: Fear Of A Black Planet 919-286-7738 (1:3641/224) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 156 MS WORD Ref: DAF00003 Date: 06/09/96 From: JAMES SMITH Time: 09:46pm \/To: ALL (Read 9 times) Subj: Internet Assistant Does anyone know if they have Internet Assistant for Word 7.0 yet? I setup the list in a file with the extension "doc," double-spacing between entries. To use, I open Winword, then the address file. After selecting the appropriate address, I open the tools-envelopes setup. The recipient address appears in the proper box, and I complete the normal entries for the sender address, and printing options. Select print after inserting the envelope against the stops in my HP Deskjet500. The envelope is fed into the printing position, printed, then ejected. The only thing I sometimes forget is to reset the print option to 8.5x11 paper for the letter, when printing the letter afterward. There may a better method, but I haven't looked into it any further. ... Catch the Blue Wave! --- * Origin: D.M.U.G. Sure... just go to the edit menu and click on "Replace..." The Replace menu has a "Special" button at the bottom that enables you to search for special characters such as the paragraph character. Then just put a Space character as the substitute. Of course this will remove ALL paragraphing so you will have to figure out where the original paragraphs were. Another trick is to do the search for two paragraph symbols in a row and substitute that with either another special character that is not used in the document or with a word like PARAGRAPH (all caps). Then perform the first trick above. The third step would be to search for PARAGRAPH (all caps) and substitute the word with one paragraph character. Of course you could write a macro to do it too.... :^) I'll leave that exercise to you.... ;^) --- QMPro 1.53 There is none righteous, no, not one.
