GC> '55 - '56 270 c.i.d. GC> It sounds like he may have either a 240 or 270 engine. That sounds about right, I'll have to look at the car to see what year it s. Yes, he still has that too, he throws nothing away. But is way to far gone for restoration, no floor left, upolstry is home to mice, and no glass left in it. Is there any visual differences in the motors in case I can't get the year? The valve covers are red and say "Firepower" on them and I think there is a ram on them as well. I'll have to take another look now. :) GC> guess for horsepower would be 190-225. Really I figured it might be a little more. But I guess for the times that was quite a bit. Also any idea on the value of this engine? It's been properly stored with oil in the cylinders etc. Thanx for all the info. There is a hemi car not to far from our home, the car is sitting in a junkyard, inside a old road runner. We are trying to find out who owns it, but I think they know the value of the hemi, so it will probably be out of our reach for purchasing. As far as putting a 318 in a Daytona, Herb McCandless's son put a 318 into a 2-dr. Horizon, he enters in the races at the Mopar Nationals occasionally. But mostly it's a looking car. We'll have to wait and see if what comes along for a good project. We are moving in the late spring or early summer, so I guess things will have to wait until after that. Well, it might, but it won't be a simple bolt in job. You'll need to get the disc brake setup from the same body style car as yours (Chevelle, Skylark, Monte Carlos also work-- 1968-1972) You want to look for the multiple component spindle/steering knuckle setup. Get all the brake related parts from the donor car, spindles, rotors, backing plates, calipers, master cylinder, proportioning valve (incl. the short steel lines and, bracket of course) Most of it will come out as a unit with the spindles, but if your dealing with a salvage yard, some might give you only what you ask for. Use the calipers, and master cylinder for cores on "new" units. Rotors, bearing seals, caliper pins are all available new. If its like my Nova, inner bearing seal, and bearings (inner & outer) are the same as the drum brake versions (in other words, useful spare parts). | AmiQWK 2.7 - S/N 0261 | ...
