I don't have a fortune to spend. The engine sizes that I know of are as follows: 305 327 350 396 454 I don't think I'll want a 305, a 327 is as small as I think I'll go. So of the remaining engines, which one is the best one for my budget: Classic Chevy for around $3500??? I'm in the process of stretching a frame on my 80 dodge D-50 sreies mini truck to accomodate a(any) v8 back behind the cab section since I don't have quite enough room to put it in up front.. gotta stretch the frame 43 inches to get the length for the engine and trans combo.. BB mopars are about 63 in long and SB's are about 60 so I"ve added a coupla inches over 75 total behind the cab to the rearend to make sure either would fit.. I don't You've stepped the biggest step now, finding just what you want to get. Remember to be patient from this point on, theres lots of cars out there, and its not unusual to spend some months looking for the right vehicle. > The engine sizes that I know of are as follows: > 305 > 327 > 350 > 396 > 454 > > I don't think I'll want a 305, a 327 is as small as I think I'll go. So Good choice. The 305 is good as a boat anchor. However, if its a classic your after, you won't need to worry too much about having a 305 in it unless somebody stuck it in the car. (305 was introduced in 1976) > of the remaining engines, which one is the best one for my budget: Classic > Chevy for around $3500??? In all around availablity, you can't beat a 350. Parts a plenty. However, you may want to consider just what you want from the car combination. If fuel economy has any role in your decision, stay away from the big blocks, (396,427,454) if you do lots of around town driving, you'll get less than 10mpg. But, you've got all that brute power... =) Personally, I would be go out to find a car thats in great shape, and never mind what engine it has, as long as its a v-8. Engines can be changed to suit your tastes at some future point. Good Luck, and be critical and patient when hunting for a car. If someone gets too pushy, or won't take it to a mechanic of *your* choice for pre-purchace inpection, turn around and walk away. There are lots of car for you to look at. | AmiQWK 2.7 - S/N 0261 | ... Check different stores of the same name as well, since each are independently owned. Got one in town which carries a whole assortment of automotive magazines and firearms magazines, the other of the same name carries mostly womens magazines and muscle magazines. As well, a dedicated magazine shop since they have everything under the sun. And don't forget your local speed shops. Most carry magazines as well. | AmiQWK 2.7 - S/N 0261 | ...
