While it was not the nicest car I have ever driven it was a very fine looking vehicle. I had a slight raise in the rear, wide tires and it had a 403 olds Interceptor in it when I purchased it. While it doesn't compare to either of my cars now I was not at all disappointed with it's appearence. For a streamlined 80's car I was quite impressed with it actually. Only problem was how nose-heavy tail-light it was. If I had owned it longer I could have probably worked that out better as well. As it is someone bought it and tore it down for parts :/ ... What would I expecrt to spend on one of these sweet 60/70's Vi> cars? I wish you luck in finding one that the owner will part with ;) You've got some nice cars in mind. What to look for? Look for any rust, and get a Bondo magnet to see if there's any signifigant amount of Bondo (filler) on the body. Make sure the engine doesn't belch white or blue smoke when it's started.. if it does, it's likely that it's burning oil. Also check the colour of the trany fluid, if you look at an automatic. It should be red. If it's black, run, unless you feel like rebuilding the tranny in a few months. And of course see if it runs well :) If you can, run a compression check on all the cylinders to make sure there's not a blown head gasket or cracked block sitting in that car. One more thing. Set aside $120 or so for a good radar detector ;) I guarentee you'll NEED it, if you drive the way I did when I was 16 :) (I'm going to be 18 next week myself) Mine's saved me easily $300 or so in tickets (except for once when I was being stupid.. 72 in a 60).
